Allianz Global Assistance | Our Review
Allianz Global Assistance is a subsidiary of Allianz, offering comprehensive breakdown cover through a range of packages. The provider has over three decades of experience and some great benefits, as well as an impressive rating on feefo, so they make for a great choice of breakdown cover provider.
Parent company Allianz was founded in 1890, with its headquarters in Munich. Allianz has a wealth of subsidiaries, with Allianz Global Assistance providing travel insurance and breakdown cover.
Allianz Global Assistance has been getting drivers back on the road for more than 35 years, so you can count on invaluable expertise and experience if you choose one of their policies.
The benefits of Allianz Global Assistance
This provider allows up to 5 call-outs per year, with 24-hour breakdown assistance and car recovery as standard.
They aim to get your car fixed before recovering it, which includes an hour of repair work at the roadside, no matter which cover level you choose.
You’ll also benefiting from a great deal of experience, and whilst you can’t use the service until 24 hours after purchase, there is an on-demand recovery option available for those without active cover.
Types of cover from Allianz Global Assistance
Customers can choose between Bronze, Silver and Gold cover, as well as European Breakdown Cover.
Bronze includes 24/7 breakdown assistance and local recovery, with the latter offered if the car cannot be fixed at the roadside.
Silver adds cover from home, so should your car break down before you’ve gone anywhere then Allianz Global Assistance can send one of their experts to help.
Gold is the most comprehensive UK option, adding national recovery, so you can get a tow to a location of your choice. You also get onward travel, which gives you the choice of overnight accommodation, a rail fare or a courtesy car, if the car cannot be fixed within 4 hours.
Other benefits of this level include misfuelling cover, lost keys cover and cover towards the cost of vehicle collection once it’s fixed.
Choose European cover and you get full breakdown cover, including a courtesy car if needed and vehicle storage in a range of European destinations.
How much is Allianz Global Assistance?
You’ll need to get a quote to see prices, but as a rough guide you can get the Gold cover from around £60. You can save money by choosing a lower tier of cover, but it’s worth thinking about what you’ll actually need.
Skipping cover at home, for example, might trim the price a little, but then if your car succumbs to the wintery cold one morning then the active cover won’t be of any use.
Allianz Global Assistance certainly keep prices competitive, giving you excellent value for money, particularly with the comprehensive Gold cover.
What we think
In a crowded market, Allianz Global Assistance certainly holds plenty of appeal. You’re getting a good price for comprehensive cover, and the extras on Gold, like misfuelling cover, provide ideal peace of mind.
Many breakdown cover providers offer something very similar in terms of types of cover, so it’s worth looking at any other selling points. Allianz Global Assistance enjoys a high score on feefo, and has a great deal of experience in roadside assistance, so we think you should expect an excellent and efficient service should you choose this provider.
